Card Patterns Sketch 103

Hello everyone... I was busy all day yesterday... thinking and working on this sketch... and even though the design team came up with the most brilliant designs... of course my first attempt... was a disaster... ( well to me anyway) ... usually the 2nd and 3rd card is more to my liking... anyway... this is what I finally came up with...

a close up on my cute little cupcake with an added flower ... and of course.. .my glitter... >vbg<

My take on Card Patterns Sketch 103

Close up on centre circle (nestibilities blossom) I just love the cake dripping with icing...(glitter) and  2 cherries -I added some glossy accents to the cherries not very visible on the pic unfortunately

Pic taken without flash.. wasn't sure which one looked  better so I added both

the final product...

thanks for stopping by

have a simply wonderful weekend... and look out for my Outlawz Sketch Challenge later today

Recycled picture frame

Azrah my granddaughter just turned 3 in January... of course... she just loooooves all granny's stamps, glues n stuff... thought I would add a picture of a recycled picture frame she made ( with my help of course... we starting her young over here... ) using an old Kellogs corn flakes box and a single sheet A5 card... not bad on the stamping for a 3 yr old...

We stuck the flowers & the gems with glue dots.. they work the best... and is instantly set with no mess or fuss!!
OK... Granny helped with cutting out the centre with her circle nestibilities from Spellbinders...  a dream if you need to create perfect frames....

the back of the frame... we used a left over piece of card from the cereal box as the stand ...and yes... that is Azrah's works of art behind the frame...>vbg<

a close up on the flowers and a bit of her stamping...
her first stamping attempt... not bad... the stamp rocked a bit...LOL

here is her frame standing up... note I didn't help her with the placement of the top of the frame... the Kellogs backing is stickingout a bit on the right... must admit... found it hard not to help... but realised it's her project.... and it needs to be hers.. .not mine... ;p)

We found a picture of her as a baby....

thanks for popping by... I'll be making a recycled double frame soon... so keep a look out for that one...
It should be better than this one... promise...LOL

I wanted it to be "clean and simple" and easy to read...... it's been a while since I have made any changes here... and boy oh boy... did I have to really use those little grey cells... of course good old fashioned "google" who never fails me with anything.. bless them.... LOL...

hoping tomorrow brings some time to attempt another project....

CAS (Clean & Simple) Challenge on Outlawz

I told myself that this year I was going to spend more time working on my cards and scrapbooks....in order to remedy this...  I signed up on 2 challenges at Outlawz Challenges and have pretty much made both cards to date... whoo hooo....... hope I can keep up with the pace.... LOL...
I also needed a few cards for special birthdays coming up... and decided that there was no time like the present to make a start....
The challenge was ....

a recipe this week.  You must use these 3 items on your card, you may use additional supplies, however, you MUST use these...
1.  Patterned Paper
2.  Twine/Linen Thread
3.  A "Happy" Sentiment

and this is what I came up with.........

Started off with one of my Penny Black stamps... (4080K a cupcake for you) and stamped it with Archival black ink. Used my Hero arts watercolor wheel to color. I have recently found that an angle brush is brilliant for coloring... you can use the sharp point for small areas... and the same brush can also fill in larger areas... I love mine.. and was sooo happy I bought one...
to add texture... I distressed the edges of the patterned paper... and edged it with Stormy Sky distress ink...

Layered my image on Yellow, green and turquoise card stock.
added some Glossy accents and Hero Arts glitter to the cupcake

Close up on the flowers on the white flower I added green smooch (it just looked a bit too white for me and after all.... I prefer the distressed look) and layered it onto a Hero Arts Hues flower. Added a yellow brad in the centre and layered in on top of some Hessian Twine. (Outlawz CAS challenge 20 Feb 2011 requirement) I also added a small tag with the words happy birthday (this is the cupcake happy birthday stamp from Hampton Art. In this instance I only inked up the words... ) stamped it in turquoise ink and edged the tag with the same ink. added some twine here too....

and the final product......

A special card for a special friend

I hope you enjoyed browsing thru today's work....

Anyone for more Turquoise and Lilac???

Been trying to keep my desk neat and tidy... so it can be ready for use when inspiration strikes... and on the spur of the moment this morning.. used up the left over scraps and images I did yesterday to make the first card... here is what I came up with....
a reminder of the colors again....

a close up on the oval and the butterfly... the stamped image was a small swatch on which I experimented to see how the writing would look overlapped on the butterfly... and the turquoise frame is the left over from the oval I made for yesterday's card... lilac backing... another off cut laying on my desk from yesterday... lilac flowers are from Hero arts and tiny gems from Kanje Krafts & Kreations...

A close up on my tiny Hero arts flowers... you can see to thel eft the background butterfly and flower stamp I used to add detail to the turq off cut on the left.

A close up on the oval frame... I ran the frame thru my wizard using my cuttle bug swiss dots folder.
I stamped the same background butterflies on the Kraft card directly with my Hampton Art lilac ink... it came up quite nicely... unfortunately the picture doesn't show it up well though...
Here you can see (I hope) that I 3D the butterfly... there was just something missing... so I thought this would finish off the card... and add a bit of dimension.

I added some Hampton art crystal glitter... you all know by now I love my bling... LOL

completed card in full... I've added another picture on a white background below... realised that the brown table top didn't do much for the card....

aah... so much better... you can clearly see the background butterflies stamped on the kraft color with my lilac Hampton art ink pads... I am loving these big time... they are juicy and ink up like a dream... well worth a try! also added some glitter to the small background butterflies on the turq off cut. looking at the pic now... I am thinking that the lonely turq gem on the left which is set inside a flower... is not doing it for me.. may add another 2 to balance it... will post another pic if I do... live and learn... LOL

thnx for stopping by.... hope you enjoying your Saturday... let's hope I have more time to be creative tomorrow

Color Cue challenge

OK... so I have been a busy bee browsing through loads of blogs and links... and came across this challenge via another blog... seen so many.. I forgot which one... anyway.. the challenge was to use the following colors:

I think I was totally attracted to the color palette... they looked like yummy ice cream or something...and I thought... how soft and friendly... so I tried my hand at it...
The fabulous thing is... I used all off cuts for this card except the Kraft card which I bought at a really great price!

I started with the  white off cut... (of which I have loads..LOL) and used my Hampton Art lilac and turquoise ink pad. Inked up one of my all time favourite butterfly (2572F winged angel)  Penny Black stamps with both colors and just randomly stamped this as a background. Folded the craft card stock for the main base of the card and layered it with the turquoise card. This layering of color is also great for a scrapbook page background...
A leftover of lilac was put thru my wizard with the wording cuttle bug folder and I swished over & inked the sides with some  weathered wood distress ink & layered this on the left side of the card.
glittered up some of the background butterflies and added the lace to the underside of the bottom of the white off cut. Layered this over the lilac strip

Close up on the focal image. I stamped this in the same way on some curious metal ice white card (also an off cut) and over stamped it with a lighter turquoise Hampton art ink pad and one of my Hero arts word stamps. Layered it onto an off cut of lilac and then onto an off cut of turquoise which I cut out with my oval nestibilities.  I added some diamond stickles  - after all we all love a bit of bling.

Add caption

To finish I added 3 pearls as an accent.... the lace was stuck below the white  background stamped  card. I just love cotton lace... Oh...I did stamp a background on the Kraft card initially, which is just visible on the right side here... but most of the card was covered anyway...

the final product...

I realised you couldn'st see the Kraft part of the card in the other images... so took another pic...hope this one is better.... ;p)

thanks for popping round
have a blessed and stampendous week end ahead.

Outlawz Wednesday sketch challenge

I recently joined an on line group called Outlawz and decided to get off my u know what and try out some of their challenges... this is this week's challenge... to hop over to their blog and check out what other participants have come up with... there are some gorgeous ideas....

this is a sample of the sketch from Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge

Here is my take on the sketch... I am a bit rusty... so bear with me... hopefully they will get better...LOL...
I used some Kraft card stamped on the dots in dark brown dye ink and ran it thru my wizard with the distress harlequin background. used my Tim holtz vintage photo to add some color to the raised areas.

the image was stamped with Kaleidacolor Autumn and layered on orange, green and dark brown card to match the inks.

A close up on my star which I added distress stickles to and a little diamante

Close up of my Cowgirl image I added a Hessian rope to her hand as added texture.

thanks for popping round...

Ta daa......

Ok...I confess... once I started with this frame... I just couldn't STOP!!... anyway... I think it's done... may add some small extra details... but in the meantime here it is....

I decided that I couldn't let this work of art go to "waste" and copied some pics I had at home to attach to the canvas... and yes that is my dear hubby & I back in the day.....

These are pics of me taken 0n 21 May 1966 (yes... my daddy is really good with dates on his pics... a lesson I am sure we can all learn from)... and....gee whizz... just realised.. have to add the date to the canvas... see  already I need to add another detail...LOL...

this is the center canvass... I copied 2 pics of me as a baby.... and added some frames - these are old slide frames covered with gold paper and stamped with my ever favourite word background stamp. ..told you it works on almost everything... for me that is... ;p)
A close up on the rub on and butterfly I made with grunge paper... cut with my wizard and painted with some pearly paints... filled in with glossy accents and overstamped with gold stazon ink when dry....
the swirl is just covered with spritz and diamond stickles... a must have for any craft box!

close up of the frame. the background flowers were something called design adhesives covered with silver foil ( these can be flocked, glittered, foiled and even embossed... ) and inked with dye inks to match the paper

this is the other frame on the center canvas me at 8 months old
19 May 1966 (tx DAD)

rub on's:  clock, swirl and words. I also stamped the harlequin background stamp onthe right.... the background  page looked to neat and clean for all the detail on the canvas

and finally the completed project....

thanks for stopping by... appreciate you taking the time to take a peek
