Baby boy gift idea
My husband's nephew and his wife had their first baby boy a few weeks ago...I thought I would add a little handmade card board cot/crib to the gift parcel to add some interest.
Just placed everything on a 30x30 piece of chipboard covered with scrapbook paper. Paper covers better than card..it gives a cleaner finish to the edges.
Added a tab and all done.
My daughter has subsequently designed a similar cot in KNK - this will make our lives so much easier
Cause the one pictured above was done the old fashioned way...cut by hand...lol..
Have a great week all.... We have wedding fever. My son is getting married on Sunday so lots to do...wish me luck!
Take care now...and remember....to......
Keep it Krafty....

Baby Concertina Album
After a few lovely sunny days... the rain has come to visit... and those jumpers, socks and caps are out once again... yesterday my sister in law was looking for a quick idea to make 12 mini albums as gifts for matriculants who are finishing off their high school career here is South Africa.
The conventional mini album would take much too long so we came up with a concertina album.. which can be stored as well as used as a display unit.. which is pretty cool. I have been dying to try one of these for ages, but have so many other chores which take prefererance that it was always put on the back burner.
Yesterday I sat down and worked out the dimensions for her so she could go home and make those 12 albums... lol.. rather her than me.
I decided to make a baby one as I owe someone a baby album and thought this would be a perfect time to try out a few flip out pages and flaps in this concertina album idea... needless to say the house is a mess cause I've been busy with an album...lol...
here we go... quite a few pics.. so sorry for the picture heavy post.
this is the other side of the concertine... whats nice about this idea is that it is double sided...
the baby shower striped page flaps open to the left so you have space for 2 photos on the inside as well as a tag tucked into the top of the striped paper for journalling
this is the next page, it has a small pocket with 3 tags for memories... you can add a picture behind the tags as well as a small picture on top of the pocket.
the page on the right flaps out to the right as well.
and on the other side of the concertina is......
space for more photos. the page on the right flaps open to the right as well and the little journally card also flaps upward. The paper clip holds these pages together... I just added a flower button as an accent to make it look a bit pretty..
the larger flap open. As you can see instead of one picture on this page, you can now have at least 2 pictures as well as a photo on the front and there is still place for your journalling on the small tag.
the last page with a small flap on the left.
here with the flap open. I always tend to use double sided paper for my flip flap pages... this way I know I can enjoy both sides of the paper.... I know many people find it hard to stick down double sided paper cause it feels like you are losing out on the other side...lol....
Hope you enjoyed viewing my latest creation.
Have a wonderful weekend ... coming up soon..... and remember... to.......

WCMD in Cape Town
Hello fellow stampers and scrappers,
After being awol for so long, WCMD has inspired me to share with my blog friends how I spent a wonderfully creative day with friends.
We had a jam packed session with eating, drinking, and of course sharing a technique or project. Our venue was once again at our friend the late Sue Berry's home. Her husband Chuck and her sister Patsy were kind enough to host us all for the day. We had the most stunning view of our gorgeous table mountain.
First up was Debbie and Sasha, who showed us how to make an easel post it note holder. Great idea for a future class as well as end of year gifts for fellow workers or teachers
Up next was Gail who as always came up with an elegant and cute creation. A mini picnic basket with fudge to boot
Gift giving is going to be easy this year cause Lee-Ann showed us how to make the most stunning gift bag together with blinged up buckle...now that's definitely an idea I will use again
We certainly had to work for our lunch...lol..Amanda as usual came up with a wonderful project. We were all still recovering from the bird cage we made last year, but this years book card is definitely special.
Lotsa hard work and prep went into this creation...
Aren't the greens and pinks just pretty?
Lunch was delicious...everyone contributed to a lovely meal, which we all probably enjoyed a bit too much ..lol....but back to the grind stone after lunch with a cute little idea from Corinna
I am in love with mini canvas's
Lynn was up next with this quick nifty idea.
A regular paper cup transformed into a gift cup...lovely to use as a party gift favour
.
My turn next, I had a Tim Holtz in the box die so this little gift bag fit the bill perfectly
One with and one without googly eyes...lol...aren't they just cute.
Last but not least Sandra got us ready for our Christmas cards
This unusual card is a great idea for my nestibilities...definitely one I will try again.
After our usual box of cards handover to Chuck ( we make Chuck cards to use during the coming year) tea time and a thank you rememberance of Sue it was time to head home and enjoy our spoils of the day.
A huge Thank You to Debbie and her side kick Sasha for organising and of course to everyone for their generous contributions in the form of gifts, give aways and lucky draws. It made the day extra special.
And now....the hunt begins for a special project to make at next years WCMD.
Wedding invitations are in the making...will load them after they have been delivered.
Keep it Krafty...until next time...

Vintage chic
Hi all
Another challenge from Outlawz - in the Paper a la Mode challenge
Paper is a free printed page from the internet. Card body is made with curious metal chocolate -
unfortunately discontinued :-(
Nestibility cream card is also curious metal 300gsm - cut from an off cut.
Rose stamp is a Penny Black brush stroke stamps.
Banner is from a clear stamp set- not sure where the sentiment is from.
Roses are ready made flowers and the leaves are punched out from a green off cut.
Thats it for now....i am busy with a really large canvas - will post progress pics if I don't get too carried away playing...lol..
Have a great day!

Tag You're it over at Outlawz
hello everyone...
we had a wonderful sunny day in Cape Town today... but it's still chilly... winter is definitely here..
Last week Saturday's challenge at Outlawz was to create a tag.
this is my contribution.............. the background of the tag is a typical Tim Holtz background. I stamped a selection of stamps in versa watermark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I used about 4 varieties of distress ink to distress the background and used the same colors to distress the swirl and flower so that they would blend in together. Of course my card would not be complete without my glitter...LOL.. this is the stardust dry glitter from Ranger with glossy accents

Its Winter over at the Outlawz CAS challenge this week
Hello fellow crafters...
My friend Lynn chose a theme of Winter over at Outlawz this week. I don't really have many seasonal stamps... but kinda remembered I had a really old Hero Arts set of 4 trees LL607 Natures Silhouettes depicting the seasons in my bottom drawer.. LOL...yep... when it comes to stamps.. the memory banks seem to work.. lol
I also had a small Hero Arts snowflake set LL944 Artists Snowflakes from back in the day and a Penny Black sentiment...'Let It Snow' 3523F
I decided to go with a white and blue (Versa color 19 Cyan) theme... and stamped my snowflakes in the background with Versa Watermark ink... (clear ink) and brushed over some Perfect Pearls in Pearl and Iridescent Blue. Stamped my tree onto a white scrap added Glossy accents and Flower Soft polar white for the snow.
Stamped the sentiment directly onto the card and stamped just the snowflake onto a scrap. Punched it out with a circle punch. I decided to give it some dimension so a foam dot did the trick. I had to give it some glitz... you know I love my glitter... added some glossy accents with dry stickles star dust glitter... (new favourite!) and also added some foam tape to the tree image to raise it.
and that's it here is the completed card

Hope you can see the background... such a pity the camera does not pick up the lovely glimmer the Perfect Pearls created. |

its rainy and cold here in Cape Town and has been for the last few days... we don't see snow.. and I am hoping to still experience it here one day .... they say the seasons are changing.. so we wait patiently ...>vbg<

Outlawz Cas Challenge 19th May 2013
Yep... 3 in a row... I am on a roll...lol... I did tell you that I would be trying to be creative at least once a day right?....
I have been busy... here is the latest CAS challenge from Outlawz... the theme this week is retirement cards...
I had a "Happy Retirement" stamp in my stash.. so I of course had the perfect opportunity to allow this lovely to see some ink... like many of my stamps... it was this poor baby's first inking experience... LOL...
I had black and white on my craft table.. so lazy me just decided to use what I had on hand... many of my projects happen with 'what's on the table'.... anyway... I embossed plain white card with my Sizzix #656503 and layered it onto white and onto black... and it just didn't do it for me... and a light bulb moment... occurred... lol... I though what would happen if I took the time to fussy cut around the embossed image... and that's exactly what it did.. I added some foam tape to create some dimension and .just stamped Happy retirement in black. My dirty finger made a bit of a smudge next to the sentiment so I just added and 3d the little bird onto the card... like I say... there are never any mistakes.. just opportunities to expand your creativity....that's my version and I will stick to it.. LOL...

I used a plain white card stock, stamped Penny Black butterfly stamp 3648K Butterfly Edge in black ink and embossed a strip with one of my Sizzix Embossing folders # 657786. I used the dark green one below just stuck my sentiment Penny Black 3131F over the circle on the folder which I cut out with my circle and scallop nestibilites.
and that's it...quick and easy.....I wish all my cards could come together as easily as this one did.
until we meet again...
