Our Little Baker makes Cinnabuns

Hello fellow crafters

I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and the week is already shaping up to be a great one.

We are entering the final week of our month long fast - from sunrise to sunset... and will most likely be celebrating Eid on Sunday..God Willing.

I know I skipped a post yesterday, but to be honest, there was no time to scrap or stamp... but I did mount 2 sets of my Paper Artsy stamps onto EZ Mount... so I am sure that counts as being constructive..lol.

Today we just have an A4 scrapped page with Azrah, my grand daughter - she helped her mum to make the most divine Cinnabuns over the long weekend.. and she asked me to scrap a page so she could take it to school.

I printed out the paper from a digi paper I had on my PC and added some words, stamps by Hero Arts and of course my glossy accents and Prisma Glitter to add a bit of pizzaz..

thanks for stopping by, I hope you all have a wonderful week further. I have to start a steam punk chunky book this week which is due at the end of the month... and haven't a clue what I am going to make. I don't know why I get myself into these things... but it always sounds so exciting... and I sign up. So... I will have to rack this brain of mine to come up with something inspiring..LOL

Until next time

Mojo Monday Sketch 253

Hello Everyone...

Its a freezing cold day in Cape Town today... my daughter Wisaal and I were just caught in a hail storm... yep... I found out that I could still run...LOL... guess hail is the closest thing we are going to get to snow...

Perfect day to be playing by the fire with my toys...

I am still on a mission to use up my scraps.. and yes.. there are boxes full so I guess I will be busy for quite sometime still....lol... anyway... decided to try out the Mojo Monday Sketch 253, I have been subscribed to their challenge blog for ages.. and just never got round to playing...

My card base is kraft for a change.. which I edged with brushed corduroy and weathered wood distress ink to match the scrapbook papers I had left over from this years convention.

The page came together quite easily I must say, although when I initially looked at the sketch, I thought ... gee whizz.. will I be able to do that... it looked a bit daunting.

I distressed all the edges of the layers with my distress tool and added the same distress ink to the edges, found a navy blue piece of something.. its too stiff to be ribbon but it worked with the colours so I used it.. and managed to make a bow too.
The image and sentiment was stamped onto cream shimmer card with Archival Sepia ink and also distressed with weathered wood and brushed corduroy.
The stamp set is one of my new arrivals in the shop by Prima called La Femme item 557119. There are some really cool stamps in this set and in the overall range.

To finish I added some stickles to the tiny butterfly and coloured the flowers in blue.. I didn't have the right colour blue in my stash to match.. so had to make do with a lighter colour and finally added a clock embellishment.

That's it for today folks... until next time.. keep warm if you're cold and keep cool if you're hot... LOL

much love

Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Hello Everyone

As promised I am back with yesterdays image all made up... I must admit... it took me a while to find just the right off cuts to finish this card... but we eventually got there...

I am playing with Simon Says Challenge this week and used the tic tac toe: Ribbons, Free (glitter) and Blooms.

The base card is white as usual, layered with some yellow patterned paper which I edged slightly with worn lipstick distress ink - in hindsight it was a bit too bright, but what done is done.

Punched the edge of the stripe off cut and layered it on the left of the card together with a strip of white lace. overlaid that with my yellow and pink ribbon.. a lucky find in my stash... and finally added my image on foam tape, which I die cut into a circle and added a pink layer using my nestibility S4-115.

To finish of course we cannot forget the bling.. some flowers with pearls, glossy accents with glitter on the flower and the bee's wings and just plain old glossy accents to accent the petals of the flowers.

Oh yes the sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onyx black and edged just with the left over ink on my distress sponge and cut into banner style.

thanks for visiting...

have a stampendous weekend

Today's project

hello All

just a quick post... so I didn't have the time to actually make a card today, but I was constructive..

I finally managed to print and fill out my ProMarker colour chart.. and I must admit.. it makes it alot easier to choose colours if you have a colour chart... the only down side as I see it.. is that I realised I am still short of so many colours... LOL...

The other item I managed to finish was to colour in an image... which will hopefully be transformed into a card tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great Friday.

Until next time...

Pixie in Red....

Hi everyone

What can I say... after a dull grey few days.. the sun is momentarily out... and I say momentarily 'cause its supposed to be all rain and doom this long weekend in South Africa. Tomorrow we celebrate National Women's day.. and many people have opted to take leave on Friday.. making it a 4 day weekend.. wonderful... maybe the weather man got it wrong and the sun will shine after all ...lol...we can only hope.

Back to todays card, I feel like I am kinda cheating with this one.. 'cause it was assembled @ out World Card Making Day last year.. so I have to thank my friend Sharon Byrne for the basic layout and supplies. I just had to colour my little pixie and add the flourishes, pearls and sentiment today... so its not a completely "made by me" and its not with my off cuts.. but I found it in the cupboard packing away my order of card stock.. and realised that it had been there for the last few months..

So basically all I did was add some stickles to the flowers in her hair, her belt, necklace and the bouquet. And just added some black enamel accents on her dress buttons and shoes. Coloured her in with my Pro Markers and adds pearls to the swirl accents and of course cut out a tiny tag and added a sentiment. I do hope my ipad's camera pics up the detail on my image..

thanks for the visit.. have a great day wherever you are!

Thinking of you get well card

Hello everyone... hope you are all good today... its cold in Cape Town, but the sun is peeking its head out so it looks like we are going to have some blue skies today.

My cousins hubby gran was recently in hospital....and of course no shop bought cards for the family...lol....

It had to be a quick one so I started with a C5 sized White card, and embossed an off cut of curious metal ice White with my trusty vagabond.

Added the broad White satin ribbon with my bow and layered that onto the White base.

Stamped one of my favourite Penny Black flower stamps 266K "blush" with kaleidacolor think it was autumn leaves, onto another scrap of white for instant Color and overstamped my favourite Hero Arts word stamp H2141 Manuscript background in antique linen distress ink pad ...another favourite and often used ink pad.

Stamped thinking of you from the Hero Arts set LL019 Ribbons with messages (an old and I think discontinued set) in the green part of the Kaleidacolor ink pad and cut along the stamped image and attached to card as shown.

To finish added 3 little pearl hearts to the bottom left and of course my trusty diamond stickles on the petals of the flower.

Thanks for stopping by... have a great day

Freshly made sketches # 46

Hello everyone

I decided to try and meet the deadline for this week freshly made sketch, think I am just going to make it.

Base card is White distressed edges with antique linen distress ink. The Color is definitely not true, my dear grandson overstamped onto the ink pad in another Color - I have no idea which one but there is a tinge of green so go figure....my toys are so much more fun than theirs.

Anyway layered black and an off cut of Penny Black scrapbook paper. I then used an old off cut of a sample I made with my sizzix card front die A2 Eyelet and Ornate #656327 and layered on the right hand side.

Admittedly I had trouble doing this but tore out a sheet from an old dictionary, crumpled it up and added antique linen and brushed corduroy distress ink. Added some tissue tape to the edge for added interest and just a tad of Color.

Cut the largest die of Sizzix # 657575 labels fancy die in black and the size just before in White.

Stamped the phone from Hero Arts CL 502 "just saying hi" in versafine Onyx black ink on white die cut and overstamped it with my all time favourite hero Arts H2141 manuscript background in antique linen

Attached it with foam tape and finally added sentiment from same Hero Arts set on White card distressed in antique linen and layered onto black.

To finish I added some glossy accents to the centre of the phone and the numbers.

Thanks for coming round - please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions. I love comments.

Sketch Saturday week 219

Hello Fellow Crafters...

Hope you all had a wonderful restful or exciting Sunday... I had a lovely restful weekend doing what I love.... what more can a gal ask for..lol

I loved the sketch from the Sketch Saturday team this week

I started with a base of white card (remember I am still on the road to using up all my off cuts and scraps from previous projects) and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint and Victorian Velvet.

I then used an off cut of Coredinations green I think its also Peeled paint and distressed the edges with my little distressing tool. I also added some distress inks to this edge. The floral and stripe paper are from my stash of off cuts and I have no clue what they are called, but I also distressed the edges with my tool and added peeled paint and victorian velvet distress ink to the edges.

The image is from lily of the valley stamps courtesy of my stamping friend Amanda Harrod who kindly allows us to use her stamps once a month, so I am not sure what the number of the stamp is.. but she is adorable. I colored her with my ProMarkers... not great but its OK.

I cut it out with my nestie Oval plain and base of coredinations peeled paint, Petite scallop.

I layered the papers as per the sketch and added the gold ribbon folding it under the green card. Layered my image with foam tape to give her some height and added my little bling and bow.

Finally to finish I added some glossy accents and iridescent glitter to her wings and some liquid pearl on her shoe and her little top.

That's it for today folks... hope you like my attempt at this weeks sketch

have a great week ahead

With Caring Thoughts

Hello Everyone...

Can you believe I am back today with another completed project... just a quick one though...

I've had this Penny Black set 30-020 Hugs! forever... I think I may have used it once before.. but not entirely sure of that fact..

I seem to be loving my square 15x15cm cards nowadays...

I cut and scored my card and then took my Nestibility Circle S4-116 the largest circle and cut a circle directly on the front of my card. Stamped wording hugs and love onto the front of the card with red colorbox chalk ink randomly to create a simple background.

Then took red paper and cut a circle with the largest lacey circle S4-293 ( I love this set) in red and cut the centre of this out with the same circle I used to cut out the centre of the card.

Stuck the lacy border around the outside of the circle on the front of the card .

Stamped the mice directly onto the back of the card through the circle - just eyeballed the centre and colored in the mice with my Pro Markers (Cool Grey 1 to 4) and the daisy with my Memento Markers (PM100 Dandelion, PM103 Canteloupe and PM200 Tangelo)

Finally stamped Hero Arts C2703 "with Caring thoughts" onto a scrap and distressed the edges with Fired brick distress ink and layered it onto the card as shown.

To finish, I distressed the edge of the entire card, added some glitter to the centre of the flower and glossy accents to the petals. 3 heart diamantes to finish.

That's it for today folks, hope to be back with another project tomorrow.

Sketch Saturday Week 218

Hello Everyone...

I have made a resolution to try and make one card or page or something each day and use a stamp which I haven't used before... and try up to use all my odd bits of paper and card....quite a big bite for me... so here we go... this is today's creation... I am not happy about the coloring, but thought if I chucked up today, I would not keep up with my resolution so soldiered on...LOL..

I used the clock and sentiment from the Hero Arts range CL388 "Cuckoo". Yes they are both Virgin stamps...>vbg<
no apologies 'cause I am sure I am not the only violator on this front.

The background papers are left overs from our Scrapbook convention back in April... so I am not too sure which company they are from.

I also used my circle S4-116 and Lacey Circles S4-293 from Spellbinders and one of my all time favorite punches from the Martha Stewart range.

The clouds are back in Cape Town and it looks like a bleak weekend ahead.. perfect for working by the fireside.

Have a splendid weekend

Flowers just for U

Hello everyone..

Its a wonderfully gorgeous sunny day in Cape Town today.... and that makes me happy.... I recently received a large order from America.... and in this order was this very large flower stamp....

Well.... I don't remember ordering it, but hey... it was here so I had thought... mmm let me make something with it... so show customers what can be done with this stamp.

This is what I came up with.

I had an off cut of dotted scrapbook paper and just added a strip of ribbon stamped Hero Arts C2772 "just for you" in Brilliance Graphite Black ink.

Then stamped the flower 3 times on white card. and cut the petals out at various sizes from smallest to largest petal. I then colored them with my Pro Markers using Pale Pink and Rose Pink. I must admit, I am still learning to find my way around which color markers work best with which ones to get the best result possible.

Now I am off to cook supper as we break fast just after 6pm..gotta be ready...

take care
