Valentine Distressed Mixed Media Frame

Hello Fellow Crafters

Last night we had a bit of summer drizzle... what a relief after a few days of heat.... today I finally had the time to distress my frame and complete (or at least I think so) my first Mixed Media frame.

Honestly... when I initially started this... quite a few months ago... I hated the look of it.. thought I had completely messed up the idea.. and chucked it aside.

Having had some time to see some other Mixed Media Artwork in blogland....... about 2 weeks ago.. I took another look at my project and started adding things randomly... and slowly the final product came to fruition.

I have taken loads of pics.. so this one is going to be a long picture post.

I used... a piece of string the loop the word love and attached it with lots of Modge. and painted it red when it was dry.The base is a piece of chip board.. it did buckle a bit under the modge.. but an overnight stay under our large telephone directories brought it back to normal.

the bottom section of my piece is a piece of embossed daisy paper I had on hand which I distressed with lots of white and black paint. (Sorry Bella no progress shots on this one either :-(

The heart is also chip board... I painted it in red and added some artist sand to give it some texture and then distressed it with some black soot distress ink.

I later added some texture past through a stencil to create the zig zag ( only stencil I had which worked) - note to self... 'need some new stencils' ... there are loads about now... its seems to be the new "in thing"

Below the sentiment on the heart is a bit of lace attached and the 2 brass hearts were attached with Glossy Accents.

My loopy love word made with string... i actually like how this came out. A piece of paper doily and a love quote

Here the frame was still painted... and not yet distressed...kinda thought it needed to be aged to match the rest.

Close up on Chandelier - see the gold paint in the candles...

The black  cardstock border is from Spellbinders to which I added some heart pearl beads.

The little vase and roses has probably been in my stash for more than 10 years... I bought it... and never had the opportunity to use it until now... the vase was also distressed with bronze and green metallic paste very lightly. Added some brads to the corners. If you can see the background is a mess of paint swirls in white and black as well as lots of modge, bits of dictionery paper and even some of Tim Holtz's tissue tape... I love that stuff!!

Close up on dictionary paper, brad and edge of frame which I  lightly sanded and distressed with black soot distress ink.
Side View of heart you cansee the gritty sand and raised zig zag effect which I painted with gold & bronze and distressed in black soot ink

This is a close up of the chandelier.. from Hero Arts. I stamped in black and added some glossy accents to the tear drops and also added some gold ink to the candle tips

I added some quotes in line with the Love theme

Side View of the little vase.. as you can see is it quite raised. Its stuck on with Glossy Accents... boy do I love that stuff.. I use it for everything!

and the final product.. I really need to learn how to take better pictures... my camera ability leaves much to be desired... sorry :-(

Anyway folks thats it for today.... hope you all have a wonderful Sunday...

Keep it Crafty.............

hugz

Shamela :-)
