Supreme Scrap Challenge Tournament Round 3!!

Hello there friends

I was amazed to find out that I had made it to round 3... now I am not sure whether this was a blessing or not...LOL... the next round was even more difficult than round 2.... I suppose this is supposed to keep you thinking 'out of the box' but it felt as if this week the lid on my box was firmly SHUT!!!  Madame Mojo was AWOL ;-(

Anyway... a few attempts later... this is what I finally ended up with... lotsa writers cramp... and in my view an unsuccessful attempt at DOODLING!

Challenge rules:
General:
Make a scrapbooking layout with lots and lots of doodling on it.

Pages:
- One.
- Format 30,4 x 30,4 cm (12x12 inch)
Theme:
Free
Colours:
Free
Photos:
Minimum 4 photos
No photo’s with people (foreground or background) or parts of people on them.
Use:
- You will have to add doodling ON 2 of the photos. (exactly 2 no more no less)
- Add a handwriten/doodled title directly on the layout
- Add a handwritten journal of minimum 20 words directly on the layout.
- All doodling must be hand doodled!

Not to be used:
Flowers in any form. So no flowers on your LO. Including your papers and photos and doodling. You can't even doodle flowers on your layout. You can doodle anything else.
Alphabet stickers, alpha thickers, diecut, punched alpha, handcut alpha, stamped alpha, punched alpha, alphabet using a stencil or any other alphabet embellishment.

Allowed: - Cutting machines and punches are allowed except for alphabets and flowers.

and finally this is what I came up with......

I've come to realised that I am a totally pathetic doodler... lol... its as if my brain shuts down when I have to doodle on a scrapbook page or card... ask me to doodle whilst on the phone and I can come up with the most amazing shapes and designs... of course done without thinking... it works... ask me to... formalize it... and its over with... so despite the fact that I think there is better inside of me... it refused to come out to play this week!

Close up on my very amazing doodling...LOL...kidding!!!!!

the word Bo Kaap was done with small zig zag pen marks closely together...

i did this last... and actually liked the finished look..

close up on my doodling onto my photos top and bottom picture... and more zig zag doodling below for the word Table Mountain

and finally the finished product.

The background was done on white cardstock. I sprayed 3 colours of Adirondack colour wash... I love this stuff

 hey...

Sunset orange... (has to be a favourite colour) Stream and Red Pepper...

I wanted to acquire a bright vibrant background to depict the diversity of the Cape... we are after all a

mixture of slaves from all over the world who settled here... not of their own accord.. but that's a story for

another day...

Although not entirely happy... i am submitting this into the challenge in the hope that some one is going to vote for me... LOL..

that's it...for now... I finished 2 mini 10x10 booklet as well as a small canvas as birthday gifts for friends coming up... and once this has been delivered... i will post..

If I have time tomorrow, I will post my photos of the friendship cards I made as well... yes indeed... my craft

room has see stacks of action this week!!

until next time... remember... to.....

Supreme Scrap Tournament Round 2!

Hello there Blog Friends

Well... will wonders never cease...lol... I made it to round two.....and all I can say is Wow... this week's challenge over at the Supreme Scrap Challenge was indeed a 'Challenge'... at least for me...anyway... I am a distress ink girl.. specifically antique linen and vintage photo... and this was a NO NO as I decided to go with a white monochromatic layout.

Yep... transferring the idea in my head was indeed not as simple as I thought it would be... white on white.. can be kinda iffy if you don't have any texture... well my opinion anyway...

This is my attempt at the Monochromatic Challenge.

Picture Heavy post...sorry ;p)

I decided to use a photo of my daughter on her wedding day simply because I wanted to have something I could frame and use afterwards... joining 12 x 12 pages restricts one as you cannot put those pages in an album... and one of the guidelines was that the photo had to be black and white and partially on both pages...

I decided to go with Bazzil bling diamond cardstock.. which has a gorgeous shine - unfortunately I don't think the camera picked that up... such a pity...

the flowers came from the Hero Arts Hero Hues in whites and from the Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Flower Garland die.

  1.
The two pictures above shows a side view of the embossed layers of the top right hand side of my layout.

I simply love this Spellbinders border die... and use it all the time...
You can also slightly see the word 'love' which I stamped in versa watermark ink and brushed some perfect pearls in perfect pearl over it... a soft subtle touch..

in order to achieve some sort of textured layers... I used an off white paper I had and per accident tore it -just decided to leave it at the angle... distressed the edges slightly and layered that as the base... then an additional pience of Bazzil Bling embossed and punched edges... over that a long strip of Bazzil Bling.. which I embossed and distressed . At the very top there is a strip of white ribbon and some pearls ...

this is a close up view of my background stamping... which was stamped in Versa watermark and embossed with some PSX perfect pearl embossing powder... its been in my stash for years... and of course.. I knew it would come in handy some day..lol..

At the top you can also see the Hero Arts chandelier stamp.. stamped in the same medium as above.. but I added some glossy accents and iridescent glitter for some bling

a close up on my photo and wording... the words are chipboard which I painted with  Matisse Iridescent Medium... this stuff is stunning... I sometimes mix it with my paints... for a gorgeous pearl finish...and of course.. I added glossy accents over that... cause I love the look...

and finally the finished page.... hope you enjoyed travelling through my monochromatic world today....

have a wonderful week further... and remember... to......

Keep it Krafty.....

My take on a Valentine's day card.

A heart easel card with an absolutely gorgeous penny black cat stamp!

Sentiment is from Hero Arts which I die cut with Spellbinders dies.

Coloured image and heart with promarkers. Had difficulty with the cat....I still need to practise my blending...ALOT!

That's my take on Valentines Day for this year. Hope you were all spoiled by special ones in your lives.

Until next time...

... make a MASCULINE CAS Card @ Outlawz

Hello everyone..

for some reason or other... when I finished my scrap challenge... I had time on my hands... (ok.. the house is a bit of a mess) but I didn't really feel like doing chores... so I decided to check out what was happening at the Outlawz Challenge Blog.

My friend Lynn is a design team member and this week they are making Masculine cards... I decided to give it a go....

Above is my completed card.

image was colored in with Alcohol Markers.
Stamped with Brilliance Black ink. I really enjoyed my coloring in session today. I am still a novice with these pens, but having fun whilst learning!

I added some glossy accents and some iridescent glitter to the paint.
I love glossy accents...

The sentiment is from Hero Arts... an old one, but still one worth holding onto.

2 in one day... I must be on a roll....lol..

OK folks... almost bedtime.. and internet connection in my craft room is sucky tonight...

so until next time...

do remember.... to....

Keep it Krafty....

Supreme Scrap Tournament layout

Hello Everyone!!

Wow... I cannot believe that we have hit the second month of the year already.... where on earth did January go to... guess we gonna have to keep our eyes peeled to make sure we don't miss 2014...

Well, I decided to take up the Supreme Scrap Tournament with a few fellow South African Scrappers and stampers... phew... its been 2 days of indecision... but I finally got my layout together.... honestly... I haven't done a double layout in forever.. so this was to say the least quite a challenge....

Picture heavy post... so be ready...LOL

Used a selection of papers from my stash not any particular brand.
close up of my tattered floral die. The Brads in the centre of the flowers are from Bo Bunny
and the little 82 is a sizzix die. scrolls around the number is from the Tim Holtz Collection Urban chic CMS086

Favourite place tag is a stamp from hero Arts CL274 TRAVEL FRAMES
I cut it out by hand.

Close up of the foot steps, this was stamped in Versawatermark ink
I brushed some perfect pearls in Kiwi over it to give it a bit of a luminous effect.
The arrow says 'to'  sorry camera not picking it up well. The tags tells us how many steps to
various places of interest in my area

close up on the border. I love tissue tape and seem to always find a way to use it ...lol
the tiny floral bit on the top was an off cut in my stash which I fussy cut and added for interest.

Close up on my top right side of the page. I stamped out some words, used stickers for the word 'Home' and also added a flower in the corner... just thought it added some balance to the overall page.

Close up of right side of the page. My journalling was printed on my PC in blue to match the overall layout. I added some scroll rub ons and next to the rub on I left a pocket which holds a tag.

close up on right side of the page. 'We' is also a sticker in a different font. I love mixing up fonts. 'call this place' are also fabric stickers.

this is the tag which fits inside the pocket on the left next to my journalling

added a photo on both sides

and finally... tadaa.... the full paged layout

I hope you enjoyed browsing through 'images of my world'

hold thumbs we all make it through to the next round... I am skeptical cause there are some amazing artists in my group!

until next time.....

don't forget to.....

Keep it Krafty.....
