November 2011... my page for a Ltd Edition Calender

Each year I participate in a limited edition calendar swap. 12/13 participants each one makes 12/13 pages of the same month. This year I did November - we had 13 participants because the hostess made our cover which I will load sometime soon.

I used dark brown card stock together with an unfortunately discontinued making memories patterned paper. I over stamped this with my Hampton Art butterfly background set in memories art print brown dye ink.  I also stamped with Versa watermark ink onto the brown card to create a watermark effect.

the images from Darkroom Door I stamped in Vintage photo distress ink by Ranger on cream card. I inked the stamp using my inky roller so as to obtain a nice smooth inking of the stamp.

I used my darkroom door stamps - starting to take a liking in bicycles and cycling... only wish I can actually get on a bike and actually do some cycling, but for the moment I am stamping those cycles as a personal preference...LOL...

I printed the calendar on my regular printer and then used my blending sponges and my distress inks to edge the calendar... it was just too cream to match with the overall feel of the card. I layered everything either onto only dark brown card or both dark brown and baby blue card. layered the calendar on a baby blue and left an extra edge to the right to stamp the month name "November" in memories art print brown ink.

all my calendars in a row.

A close up of some of the wording. I used my distress stickles to distress with wording and finally added a Hero Arts flower with a blue diamante. and to finish I highlighted some of the background butterflies with my Inkssentials Glossy Accents to add some dimension.

hope you all have a wonderful stampendous and creatively inspiring day!

Finally..... after 27 years a high school reunion

Yep... after a long 27 years... Alexander Sinton High in Cape Town class of '83 finally got together.... my class mate Shanaaz arranged this wonderful event which was very well supported by not only school mates, but teachers of back in the day as well...

10.C class of 1983 - yep that's me with my eyes closed...

Of course I had to make the invitations... LOL.... a quick and simple invite... which I personalised for each attendee

This is a close up of the DL envelope I used. The actual invite was printed on cream card with gold foiled writing.  This single card just slid into the top of the DL envelope which I sealed, cut at the top and cut out a semi circle so one could see the actual invite inside.

thanks for taking the time to pop by...

have a great weekend

November/ December 2010 Craftwise publication

The November/ December issue of CRAFTWISE MAGAZINE showcased out Spring Envelope swap.... I was lucky enough to have my envelope published again... I must say that I now have full faith in Glossy Accents to adhere small items to my work..... my diamante on the "i" of spring survived the postal service .... it arrived at its destination in tact. So... if you need to attach tiny buttons, or embellishments, Glossy accents is the way to go!

This is the full paged spread as displayed in the Nov/Dec 2010 Craftwise

I've been published! Jan / Feb Craftwise

Well our RSA group has made it to the Craftwise again... this time our "PInk Heart" ATC's in recognition of Breast Cancer awareness.... it was a beautiful double page spread...

this is my contribution. A crafty secrets stamp stamped in Archival dye ink - grey on white cardstock... with pink cardstock as the main card and the layers. I also used some pink scrapbook paper as a background and of course it had to have a heart on it somewhere so I punched out a heart in pink, added some glossy accents and of course some bling with Hero Arts glitter... which I simply adore... it lights up everything!!

What's better than a farewell card at retirement???

So what do you give a man who has everything as a farewell gift upon retirement. I was asked to make a multi paged card and asked the ladies whether they wouldn't prefer a life long momento in the form of a memories book. Something that the gentleman could cherish and hold onto forever....

this is what I came up with.......

this is the cover of the farewell book. I used scrapbook paper to cover the front and added some braid to the side. the wording were all embossed with gold foiling and stamped with a scroll
stamped image in brown.

On the inside cover  a note foiled in gold from the staff personalising the book

Because I hand made the book from scratch, I could decide on page color number of pages, etc. I used black pages throughout the book to give it the feel of an old album. On the opening page I stamped and embossed the words "happy memories" & "remember..."   in gold .  I also stamped a corner flourish in gold and embossed it.  The first 2 pictures are one of the client as a young boy. The other was one with his late father and brothers. Dates were provided and added below the photo to ensure that those memories are always remembered.

the second page covers a few dates throughout his life, including wedding day, 1st baby and 1st car!. I used gold corner stickers to keep to the initial gold and black theme.

this page covered a few memories at work & home

More 2010 memories in pictures

full page view of the final personal page with his picture alone as he is today. I stamped a background word stamp in versa watemark ink and used my Perfect pearls to highlight the background. Unfortunately the camera could not pick it up really well. But it gave off a lovely background which illuminated in different colors as the light caught it.
This is a close up of the final page of his pictures...  having read the wishes from the 70 members of staff.... I realised that he was like a father to them, always there to help and listen..... .hence the stamped background...I thought it was suitable... and they loved it!!

Finally I added a picture of each department with a gold foil embossed heading and of course not forgetting the list of names of people in the picture... to ensure that everyone on the photo is accounted for.
I had issued each person a little card with their name in gold foil prior to making the book. Here they were given the opportunity to write a short farewell note.  After each department's picture I added their farewell messages in alphabetical order - just to be fair ;p)

I hope you enjoyed browsing through my farewell hand made book. I have heard back and it was hugely appreciated. A farewell and thank you memory which will last a life time... so much more value than a multiple paged card would have been.

have a wonderful day!!
