Wow... its been a month since my last blog entry... I cannot believe how fast the days and weeks fly by... I have been busy... so have quite a few things to blog.... making the time to sit in front of my PC to actually do it.. is the issue..and to make matters worse... we have been experience connectivity issues... which has made it a nightmare to post... and load pictures...
Early in March my friend Gail celebrated her 60th birthday... being part of a card making group... a handmade card is a MUST... but of course... I thought a hand made gift would also be quite cool...something made especially for someone on a special birthday...
I am very new to mixed media... so this may not be the perfect finished product...to all those experts out there... but I am evolving... LOL... my solution.. is just add things together which 'feel' right... so I go with my gut... and how I think, it 'looks'
I started out by spraying water all over the canvas and adding some adirondack sprays in Sunset Orange, Red Pepper and Stream... these are the only colors I possess at the moment.. so they have to do.
this it the top right of the canvas... I used some moulding paste and a stencil for the flowers and leaves... the birds are stamped over the moulded flowers. I added some pearls for extra texture.
the picture above shows the rub ons I used as well as the coffee stains (left) and flourish (right) which I stamped as well as some tissue tape I just added.. cause I felt like it... lol
My work is not complete if I don't have a quote or two.. so this is a Tim Holtz stamp I cut up... and edged with distress ink and layered onto the canvas. the dots to the left is also a stamp.
Be inspired by the everyday... is hand written... the harlequin border is also rub ons - I enjoy using rub ons on my canvas art.
This is the completed canvas... the wording Authentic is also a rub on... Gail expressed her thanks and said she loved her hand made gift...
that't it for the moment... hope you enjoyed my brief description of this project...
please feel free to email me shamelahendricks@gmail.com if you have any questions.
until next time.... Remember to.......
Keep it Krafty.....

Very interesting approach. I do like mixed media & a more 3D perspective. What was the size of the canvas?
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to be the proud owner of this work of art, Shamela. Thank you so much.
