A special gift for a friend...

I am sure many of you have the same problem I have when it comes to buying gifts for friends and family members..... you want to buy something special, something they will cherish and use... this is not always an easy task... and I had just such a dilemma a few weeks ago.... fortunately... when you play with inks, paper and stamps often enough... the brain does come up with some good ideas now and then... LOL....

Above is a close up on the wording "family" - I used ready made tags with letters and added some glossy accents with my Hero Arts Prism Glitter to add some bling.
the notes is a sheet of paper from the same stack of papers which I cut out and added under the letters....

This is a close up of the lace (which I distressed with my distress inks - it was just too white) and my border which was made with one of my spellbinders dies.

A close up on the "f" of family - I also added a small bull dog clip which I distressed with some alcohol inks.. just to dull it a bit.. it was too silver for the overall look

A butterfly which I had made ages ago.. came in handy.. I added some eyelets to the butterfly and overstamped it with my Stazon gold ink. beneath the butterfly are some rub ons as well as some of Tim Holtz tissue tape.

A bit of a close up ont he wording "remember this" the clock on the left hand side is a rub on.. cannot remember where I got it from... just found it in my stash. I also added some bold brads on either side of the die cut I used.

the finished product.... I am very pleased to say that the recipient was very happy with her one of a kind gift....

thanks for stopping by... we are busy with more canvasses... Azrah and Aqeel actually participated in painting the backgrounds of their one's themselves. They chose their own color combinations... so I will be loading those pics as soon as they are done...

With a very messy dining room table... lotsa hugz till next time...

Happy stamping...

Day 3 of classes...

Wednesday was dedicated to making little hand bags by popular request... and unfortunately... we had so much fun... and were so engrossed in this task, that the camera and pictures were all forgotten...

So when Thursday came around... Wisaal, my daughter made sure we had some pictures... of the day.... Thursday we concentrated on backgrounds... using Kaleidacolor dye ink pads and versa watermark ink... its a relatively easy but effective background technique...

busy coloring, cutting and assembling...

Taahirah coloring her chosen image.....

Maryam's card

Maryam and Zahrah's cards

Saarah and Sabeelah with their creations...

looking back... my card was rather dull in comparison to the lovely vibrant colors chosen by this group of wonderfully talented young ladies.

First day of School holiday programme

Tuesday 4th of October 2011 I held the first of 4 days of card making classes.... below are the wonderful creations made by these talented young ladies.....

Azrah

I must express that all color palettes and combination of stamps and glitter etc used on the cards are all each ones personal choice. Even though we work with a basic technique or sketch... each person is allowed the creative freedom to choose images, colors etc of their choice, so that ultimately they all go home with a "one of a kind" card.

A'aisha

Mariam

Nabeelah

Taahirah

Taahirah's card... she chose flowers and an orange palette.

Nabeelah's Safodien's card... Nabeelah also went with orange, but decided she liked the butterflies.....

Mariam chose blues... she also went with a flower stamp... lovely daisy from Great Impressions

Azrah also loved the blues and the butterfly from Great Impressions

sentiment in the middle is from Hero Arts

A'aisha's card... same butterfly from Great Impressions

A'aisha used the blues, purple and red kaleidacolor palette

That's it for day 1 of classes.... I'll post pics of the other classes soon...

have a wonderful day....

Thanks for stopping by

Quick and easy Cards with off cuts

Hello everyone... today... its cold and rainy in Cape Town... so I thought I would cheer up those Capetonians with some good news to use up all those bits of card and scrapbook paper you have in your stash.... Yes... you know what I am talking about... those pieces you just cant seem to chuck out.... which eventually gets too much and the day you do a spring clean......you just chuck them anyway.... LOL....

These cards really took almost no time at all to make... I did 12 in the space of about  an hour!
for me that's an all new record... ;p)

As you can see the base is all white... with the color coming from the off cut combined with the color ink to match your off cuts... how easy is that... of course... I am a bling girl... so just had to add either stickles or my Hero Arts Prism Glitter...

I used my Kaleidacolor Autumn multi color in pad for this image.. and added some glossy accents and prism glitter to finish....

The little princess image is from my ltd edition hampton art wood mount stamps.... the Welcome little one is a clear set from Hero Arts... one of my new favourite sets...

Also from my clear Hampton Art ltd Edition sets... unfortunately this set is already sold out... but I am sure you have something similar in your stamp selection which could work too... these ideas are super cool for those smaller stamps which you tend to forget about... or wonder why you bought in the first place 'cause they somehow get lost on a full card

Ok.. which one of us dont remember the good old Volksie.... this is a clear set by Hero Arts... the bike below comes from the same set... great for men's cards.....here I stamped with my Kaleidacolor blue ink pad... and just matched it up with a turquoise off cut... please note.. the only full sheet of card used for these cards are for the base of the card... I scratched out all my bits and pieces to stamp on and to layer...of course.. there are still loads of bits left even after I made 12 cards...>VBG<

same idea with a motor bike

there are more close ups... but will load them another time... gotta dash....

thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful crafty day!!!
